You’ve had to move your business online. Things seem so different but you are doing so well with this new way of life. You can no longer depend on a shopfront or face to face networking and need to create an online presence. Have you ever wondered how to blog with WordPress?

Although social media provides a platform for this, you don’t want to put all your eggs in one basket. Especially not one full of holes. With current censoring algorithms all over the place, the reality of being locked out of your own account or not being able to communicate with your community on a specific platform is more real than you think. I, for example, was told by Facebook the other day that thanking someone for participating in an art project was ‘against community standards’.

It’s time to use your website to its full potential. Adding a blog to your website is a great way to not only keep your site up to date and show Google there is activity, it can also help your overall rankings on Google. That is where you want to stand out at the moment.

Make sure to read my blog on How to use SEO in Marketing on the basics of SEO.

What is a blog

A blog is short for weblog. It is generally accepted that the first blog was created in 1994 by a college student. Although the name weblog was first coined in 1997.

Blogs have come a far way since then. In fact, many business websites now dedicate a page on their website to blogs as a source of current information and discussion.

Although there are various platforms on which to blog, WordPress (.org) is still the most widely used and widely accepted as the best for SEO purposes.

Content Marketing through your blog

This kind of marketing has been proven to be a great way to, not only direct traffic to your site but also to build trust and drive conversions. Content marketing refers to using blogs (content) to answer questions people are searching for on Google.

By providing answers to well-searched questions, you are not only able to rack for those specific keywords, but you grow your website’s domain authority. Therefore increasing the chances of being found by those that might be in need of your services/products.
